Get party-perfect in Downtown Indy
Tis’ the season! Or should I say, tis’ party season! You want to look your best and be the most gracious guest or host. With these tips, you’ll definitely be the hit of the party this holiday season.
ONE : The Professional Blowout
Get pampered at Studio 2000, the historic Art Deco salon overlooking Monument Circle. Winter can be brutal on hair and skin. This salon offers blowout services for just $35 and also offers makeup, nail and other salon services to get you ready for the festivities. (Tip: Get gift certificates 20% off and products up to 22% off during the “Fantastic Friday” Customer Appreciation Day Holiday Sale on December 4.)
TWO : Wear Something Sparkly
This time of year you really can’t have too much sparkle. Silver in the City offers a wide selection of artistic, locally made jewelry ranging from simple to statement pieces.
Windsor Jewelry has been a staple in the Indianapolis community for 96 years. Browse the local charm jewelry, or find something stunning from their unique collection, like the pieces above.
THREE : Proper Party Apparel
Whether you’re looking for a little black party dress or something more conservative for the staff holiday party Circle Centre has the perfect attire for any occasion. Many stores have dresses under $100 to keep you red-carpet ready without breaking the bank. Shop Banana Republic, H&M, Lucky Brand, LOFT, The Limited and more.
FOUR : Visit the Fragrance Counter
One of my favorite stops before a party is the Carson’s makeup and fragrance counter. Call to book an appointment for a smoky eye. They offer makeup service free with a beauty purchase. Then stop by the fragrance counter for a spritz of your favorite scent.
FIVE : Bring Libations
I love to bring a bottle of wine to a holiday gathering to share with friends. If you haven’t been, you MUST check out the huge wine cellar at Crown Liquors Downtown location. Stop in for free tastings on Fridays from 4 – 7 p.m.
If you’re looking for local, grab some sparkling Indiana Champagne or Cranberry Jubilee wine from Easley Winery. Other seasonal favorites include their Warm Mulled Wine and Sparkling Pink Paradise. If you are not sure which flavor to buy, stop in for a wine tasting (offered daily for $5).
SIX : Give a Hostess Gift
You can’t go wrong with chocolate or flowers. At Mass Ave’s Best Chocolate in Town you can grab an assortment of delicious truffles. Seasonal flavors include Egg Nog, Gingerbread, Candy Cane, Spice Cake, Cherry Pistachio and Pumpkin Pie.
JP Parker Flowers can put some freshness into this frozen season with a holiday bouquet that will make any host smile. Or Shapiro’s Delicatessen bakery counter offers hundreds of desserts, all made in their bakery on South Meridian Street.
I hope these tips help make this holiday party season stress free and fun. Spend less time getting ready and more time enjoying friends and family – that’s what this season is all about!
