Fall Performing Arts

The fall and early-winter seasons are the best time of the year to catch a performance at any one of Downtown Indy’s local venues. With several musical and acting options for both the classical and contemporary taste, everyone is sure to find a performance that suits their style.

Indiana Repertory Theatre
Entering its 46th season, the historic Indiana Repertory Theatre promises another great year of performances. To open the season, the IRT will break new ground, as Mickey Rowe will become the first American autistic actor to play the lead role of Christopher Boone in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Sept. 19 – Oct. 14)
  • The Originalist (Oct. 17 – Nov. 12)
  • A Christmas Carol (Nov. 18 – Dec. 24)

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra
The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra continues to inspire, entertain, educate and challenge audiences with a variety of different concerts this upcoming season. From classical to contemporary performances, these are just a few of the many shows you won’t want to miss.

  • La La Land in Concert (Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 17 at 3 p.m.)
  • Opening Night Gala (Sept. 23 at 6 p.m.)
  • The Music of Whitney Houston (Oct. 14 at 8 p.m.)
  • E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Film + Orchestra (Nov. 3-5 at various times)
  • Carly Rae Jepsen with the ISO (Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.)

Phoenix Theatre
Winners of 38 Tony-Awards, the Phoenix Theatre is known for new and powerful productions that have never been shown before in Indianapolis. You’re always guaranteed something fresh and different while visiting the Phoenix.

  • Fun Home (Sept. 22 – Oct. 22)
  • Barbecue (Oct. 27 – Nov. 19)
  • A Very Phoenix Xmas 12 (Nov. 25 – Dec. 23)

Broadway in Indianapolis
From New York City straight to Indianapolis, Broadway in Indianapolis gives audiences the opportunity to see the same productions on Broadway right here in Indianapolis!

  • Finding Neverland (Oct. 17 – 22 at Clowes Hall)
  • A Christmas Story (Nov. 28 – Dec. 3 at Old National Centre)

The Cabaret
A premiere nightlife destination, The Cabaret features a dynamic range of artists in a sophisticated setting. The Indianapolis version of New York’s Lincoln Center, be sure not to miss this upcoming performances.

  • Alice Ripley & Emily Skinner (Nov. 10 at 8 p.m.)
