Indy PopCon is back for its third year on June 17 – 19 and it’s bigger and better than ever. Instead of focusing on one specific fandom, Indy PopCon flips the script on the typical convention experience by focusing on nine genres of fandom: TV & movies, comic books, Internet culture, gaming, fantasy, science fiction, art & music, anime and cosplay.

And with so many different things to see and explore, we thought we’d help you out with the top 7 things you won’t want to miss at Indy PopCon this year.

The Legendary Kevin Smith

You won’t want to miss an opportunity to meet the man, the myth, the legend – otherwise known as Kevin Smith. The producer/director behind cult classics such as Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma will be hosting a special screening of his new movie Yoga Hosers Saturday at 8:15 p.m.

Cosplay (AKA “Costume Roleplay”)

Whether you’re a fan of Game of Thrones or a smaller niche fandom, there will be plenty of cosplay costumes for you to envy this weekend. Cosplayers and spectators won’t want to miss the Cosplay contest and Cosplay Garden – the location for free group cosplay photos.

PopCon attendees bring their A-game! Look beyond the outfits and costumes and you’ll find an entire culture and class of individuals with amazing talent in make-up, prop creation, engineering, and incredible costumery.

GFuel Gaming Center

Attendees can watch gamers battle it out on the big screen on the “Let’s Play Gaming Stage” at Brawl 2016. Picture a concert-like environment, except instead of live music, people are playing video games on stage. The prize pots (combined) are estimated to be over $10,000.

Live Podcast Stage

PopCon will have a live podcast stage at this year’s convention. Audience participation is encouraged to enhance some of your favorite podcasts such as The Nerds You’re Looking For and Hammer & Nigel Show.

PopCon Kid Zone

Kids 10 and under get can attend the event free. What a better way to show your kids that their gaming or comic obsession can actually turn into a lucrative career? The three-day convention will feature entertaining and educational content for all ages.

Exclusive Memorabilia

Some merchandise is so rare, that it can be only found at conventions like Indy PopCon. Vendors and merchants bring unique and exciting toys, collectibles, and trinkets for fans looking to stock up on their collection. There could be something that makes the perfect Father’s Day gift!
